On 12/30/09 Christians celebrate Candlemas Day. Candles are blessed and distributed for home use, a practice that grew in popularity in the 11th century. During the ritual, the canticle of Simeon is sung, during which Dimeon called Jesus "a light for revelation".

Uses for Used Candles
If you have candles or votives that are burned to the end or there is not enough to save, chip out the remaining solidified candle and put in a ziplock baggie and place in your car or drawers as an air freshener.
If you use a simmer pot and are ready to change scents, melt what you have in your pot and pour into candy molds, wait until the molds harden and just pop out. Place the molds in small ziplock baggies and use as air fresheners or label baggies and share with friends the scents you like or they may be interested in.
I like to give these "scent-samples" out to people interested in my candle business. I mail them a scent sample with a catalog. Potential prospects then can experience the scent of my candles for themselves rather than just reading about them online or in the catalog.

Knowledge of Your Product Exhibits Confidence
When starting in your candle business it is best to learn about your product line and its benefits. You should be able to answer the question " Why should I buy your candles when I can buy a candle almost anywhere?" This is a very good question. You should know your inventory as well as the benefits of your candles which would lead a prospect to purchasing a product or joining your business. My candles are made of natural waxes, vegetable extracts, double lead free wicks and burn almost soot free therefore making it a cleaner burning candle. Also knowing your product line including , jar candles, votives, soy soaps, melt warmers as well as mineral makeup makes you sound knowledgeable and exudes confidence since you understand the products and their benefits.
When at a candle conference in Las Vegas last year, I gave my business card to the waitress at the restaurant I was eating at and after looking at my card, asked me about the candles. I told her about the candles and their benefits as well as my product line. The waitress seemed impressed and said she would look into the business and left. A moment later a woman who was also a distributor for the candle company sitting with her party at a different table, came up to me and told me how professional I sounded and that I really showed confidence in my business.
You don't need to know everything about your product but knowing the benefits and inventory of your product shows confidence in your business and will draw others to do as you are doing. People will stand up and take notice !

MLM company with"STAYING POWER"
Great MLM companies with "staying power" offer new, healthy, environmentally friendly products that are consumable by not only their distributors but external customers as well. The MLM company that may have been somewhat seasonal with its product line, thinks ahead and incorporates new products that are used year round.
The MLM introduces not just any product but does its research and puts out a quality line that customers can be proud of. This type of introduction keeps the company fresh and customers excited about other possibilities in the future.

The Importance of Customer Service in a Gourmet Candle Business
I find customer service very important in a gourmet candle business. In an age of automation and "press 1 for...." superior personal customer service is tantamount to keeping a returning customer base.
Customer service in my candle business applies to two types of customers:
1. The Potential or Buying Customer.
The potential customer may be interested in learning more about the great candles you sell and the great qualities your candles offer versus a competitor's candles. They will ask questions. It is very important to be knowledgeable about your inventory and the qualities of your candles and what sets them apart from the competition. The buying customer already knows the quality product that they are buying and you want to make every effort to provide this customer with the attention and products that they will not receive anywhere else. Customers like the ease with which they can obtain your product, whether it is ordering online from your website or personal delivery of the product that they are looking for. Customer service also entails returning phone calls and emails promptly.
2. The Candle Distributor That You Sponsor.
Yes, the distributors on your team are also your customers. You want to support your team so they can succeed. You want to be available to answers questions and provide guidance. Customer service to your team includes reviewing distributor materials and company website information so your distributors can be successful and prosper. If a distributor is local to you, advise them of upcoming vendor shows in their area. A prospering team means more money for you. You must be ready to avail your distributors to the tools so they can succeed.
Customer service is very important to a thriving business. Whether you are new to the business or have been doing it for years, delighting the customer never grows old.
